CHANDON Australia

What to expect: Premium sparkling excellence
The Australian domaine of one of the largest producers of premium bubbles has a decadent presence in the heart of Coldstream. Featuring seriously impressive views of the surrounding Yarra Ranges, with an elegant tasting room where you can check out a flight of their epic méthode traditionnelle sparkling. There's options to dine in their sophisticated restaurant & lounge bar, or hop on to a winery tour, if you’re keen to see behind the scenes.
Dominique Portet
Address: 870-872 Maroondah Hwy, Coldstream VIC 3770

What to expect: Bordeaux Meets the Yarra
Blending French heritage with Australian terroir. 9th generation winemaker Dominique Portet founded his eponymous winery back in 2000, with a desire to make wines on a site he believed rivalled the soils of Bordeaux. Here you’ll find the latest chapter in the storied history of a winemaking family dating back to the 1700s - Dominique’s son Ben now heads the winemaking team as generation 10. A cellar door that’s the epitome of classical, relaxed European cool - complete with bistro and outdoor petanque court. They’re open for tastings daily, with tours of the barrel room and winery also on offer by appointment.
Helen & Joey Estate

What to expect: Yarra Valley classics in luxe digs
Helen & Joey Estate have recently opened their swish new Re’em digs - a real location to impress. Their super delicious Yarra Valley chardonnay, pinot noir, shiraz and cabernet sauvignon are all on fine, full show here, with an option to either taste overlooking the vines or amongst the barrels downstairs. It’s a location perfect for making a weekend of it too - with their fine-dining restaurant & boutique hotel located on site. In a word - exquisite.
Medhurst Estate

What to expect: Exceptional wines in a stunning setting
Set on a ridgeline in Gruyere, Medhurst Estate’s modern cellar door is a real looker - both inside and out. Kick back with a tasting flight of their absolutely fantastic estate wines from a sleek contemporary cellar door overlooking the vineyard and winery. Their rosé, chardonnay, pinot noir and shiraz are all immaculate, but the standout for me every time is the cabernet sauvignon: an exceptional example of what the grape can do in the right hands. Their kitchen is open for lunch from Friday-Sunday if you’re feeling peckish too, with a light menu highlighting the best regional producers.
Rob Dolan
Address: 21-23 Delaneys Rd, Warrandyte South VIC 3134

What to expect: A casual, dog-friendly wine lover’s dream
You’ll find Rob Dolan’s eponymous cellar door at the footsteps of the Yarra Valley in Warrandyte South - just 30 minute drive from Melbourne CBD. Super friendly wine specialists are on hand to take you through a tasting flight, wines by the glass or the bottle, it’s a great spot to relax and unwind with über delicious Yarra Valley drops. Plus paired grazing platters available if you’d like to snack along too, and they’re dog friendly to boot (if you’re lucky you’ll bump into Merlot, their resident pooch).
Tarrawarra Estate

What to expect: Underground, understated elegance
A stunning subterranean tasting room is waiting to greet you at TarraWarra Estate's Yarra Valley cellar door - a dedicated tasting space opening into their working Yarra Valley winery. All TarraWarra’s wines are estate grown, and you also have the option of enjoying a glass (or bottle) on deck surrounded by native peppercorn trees.
Warramunda Estate

What to expect: Intimate charm
What do they say about good things coming in small packages? Warramunda’s intimate cellar door is an extension of the family home - and where you can expect to run into founders Robert, Iren and daughter winemaker Liv pouring their finest estate chardonnay, pinot noir, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and malbec. Their bistro highlights local seasonal faves too, if you want something to pair along.
Yarra Yering

What to expect: Iconic, award winning excellence
Located in Gruyere, Yarra Yering have built a rep as one of the region's most awarded producers - and here you’ll find an opportunity to taste their most iconic wines. Their Dry Red No. 1 was rated Halliday's Wine of the Year in 2022, and Dry Red No. 2 took the Shiraz of the Year prize in 2025. Booking is essential for this one.
Seville Hill

What to expect: Winemaker-led tastings
Seville Hill offers the opportunity to taste one-on-one with their winemaker John D’Alosio - perfect for you to take a deep dive into their current and cellar releases (shiraz being a particular standout). Their cellar door in the heart of the Yarra Valley is capped at a maximum of 10 people at any one time, so book ahead to reserve your place.
