Why do we love this case?
We love it when the critics agree (and all of these wines have received top marks from the worlds best wine minds), but the real proof is in the broader crowd reception. Vivino allows us to gather the thoughts of the drinking many, rather than the critical few. And the consensus is well and truly in on this one: the people love it.
2x Ulithorne Prospera Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Small batch and handcrafted using premium fruit from one of Ulithorne's best McLaren Vale vineyards -they've crafted another vintage of this beautiful shiraz that showcases the region and variety with class and enthusiasm. Vibrant, rich and buzzing with energy. Juicy redcurrant and plum punctuate the palate, followed by a generous dash of spice. Fruit forward and silky smooth with lingering tannins throughout, it’s complete with a long, striking finish.

2x Pirramimma Heritage Limited Edition Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
McLaren Vale — Australia
Who doesn’t love a little bit of low-yielding, full-bodied, South Australian cabernet? We know we do. Who does low-yielding, full-bodied, South Australian cabernet better than Pirramimma? We'll let you answer that one, if you can.
Sourced from Pirramimma’s old cabernet vineyards in McLaren Vale, luscious blackberry, blueberry, mint and capsicum notes hum alongside cedar and toasted almond notes from time in oak. Secondary characters of black olive, tobacco and rosemary are starting to poke through as well. No need to rush though as this has another decade plus of development left in the bottle. For now or for the future, the choice is yours.
You’d pay $50 full price.

2x Z Wines Hedley Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
We have a lot to say about this wine, but nothing will quite compare to getting it in your glass and going for the first sip. You know how they say less is more? We’re just going to say it simply: there’s nothing you won’t love here.
Deep purple colour and even deeper flavour. The oak isn’t the commanding element, but it has a presence that cannot be ignored. You will never go wrong with a glass of shiraz like this. We will warn you, this wine comes with a side-effect - smugness. You won't be able to help yourself from gloating to all who share a glass about how cheap you got it for. Other than that, get stuck in, this is good gear.
You’d pay $35 full price.

Tasting Notes
2x Monterra Reseve McLaren Vale Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Surely ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ came about over a glass of wine just like this one. Big punchy flavours emanate from this sleekly packaged wine, think sumptuous McLaren Vale flavours of dense dark chocolate, fresh figs and mulberry, black cherry and black pepper. You bloody beauty, it’s not easy to put down the glass. We should probably note that this winemaker was the group red winemaker for Penfolds, cleaning up in winemaking trophies during their tenure. Pretty high standards we set here for you Mofo.
You’d pay $45 full price.

Made by one of the big names of the Vale, this GSM is the ultimate crowd-pleaser, thanks to its perennial vibrancy of fruit matched to a meaty palate. Brambly and packed with raspberry and cherry; rich, supple and fresh. For the last few years running, we’ve managed to pick up some of this sought-after wine and it doesn’t last long.

Tasting Notes
2x Gapsted Limited Release Sangiovese 2022
Red — Sangiovese
Heathcote — Australia
Famed for its Cambrian soil and sensational grape-growing conditions, Heathcote is earning a rep as more than just the home of lip-smackingly good shiraz, but pretty astonishing sangiovese, too. And from the very first sip this Limited Release will tell you precisely why. With depth, poise and balance plus a bouquet of wild berries, anise spice and bitter chocolate that sings, it flows along the palate to finish with savoury tannins. To add to the charm, this wine spent 18 months of maturation before release to enhance the palate and fuel the richness. Plenty of years left in the tank while being ripe and ready for ageing.
You’d pay $30 full price.
