Why do we love this wine?
The vines here are planted densely enough that the fruit arrives with plenty of skin tannin already built in, which meant less time on skins was needed this year than last. Less extraction, more restraint - and the payoff is a wine stacked with perfumed red fruit, held together by fine, chalky tannin rather than anything heavy-handed. From there it spent 11 months in a mix of new and older French oak, with malolactic conversion finishing in late spring, before going to bottle under Diam closure. All very classy stuff.
