Why do we love this wine?
If you needed to explain what McLaren Vale shiraz tastes like to someone who had never tried it before, you'd open up a bottle of this beauty. Completely classic in every way. Dark and inky in colour, even with 8 years on it, the nose has held its fruit remarkably well and a complex palate of blood plums, dark chocolate, liquorice and blueberry build to a vanillan oak and peppery spice driven finish. In the words of Jane Faulkner of Halliday Wine Companion, "Full-bodied, solid tannins and a bit of a thumper". This is drinking at its best from now until 2030 (give or take) so it's very much in the perfect window to get stuck into now!
